Sweet Revenge

When it comes to eating, the likelihood that Eli will try a new food is relatively unpredictable. Sometimes he will eat the unfamiliar food right away, usually when I least expect it (mmm, lima beans). Other times he will turn his nose up at something that he normally would try right away. If Eli does not like a food, that is OK with me. It is his right as a human being, and expected given his parentage, to have an opinion about what goes in his stomach. I do ask that he at least tastes it first, which occasionally means that I shove the food in his mouth, saying "Try it. Just try it!"

Aaaahh, the tables have been turned...

The second time around

It is amazing how much difference a year makes.

September, 2005. I decided that I wanted to make Eli's Halloween costume, so I spent a month and a half finding a pattern, buying all of the supplies (fabric, ribbon, bells!), and sewing. I stayed up late at night for 2 weeks straight just so I would have it done in time for the playgroup Halloween party. The result? A too big but homemade monkey costume...

October, 2006. When the playgroup Halloween party came around this year, I still had no idea what Eli's costume would be. I dressed him in jeans and a t-shirt, threw a cowboy hat on him, and he was a cowboy. I felt kind of guilty about this, until 2 other moms did the exact same thing!

October 31st, 4:45 PM. Chris calls to tell me that he is on his way home from work, and asks if he can pick anything up on the way home. I replied, "Can you stop by the Party Outlet and pick up a COSTUME FOR ELI so we can go to the family fun night at 6:00?"

Last minute, but still pretty darn cute.
